recurring surveys feature in txture

Release 46 of Txture introduces enhancements to its survey capabilities. Surveys are an essential element for many of our clients when taking inventory of their current IT infrastructure.

As we release the version 46 of Txture, we wanted to highlight the following useful additions:

  • Recurrent surveys, in order to dynamically assign survey recipients for data input and trigger periodically.
  • Pre-authenticated links, to allow for frictionless survey access of survey recipients.

Recurrent surveys and dynamic recipients

You can now schedule surveys to be sent to the relevant people at a specific time: for instance, when an IT component’s license is reaching an end-of-life date (or end of vendor support). In this case, you can schedule a survey to be sent to the application owner, aiming to update the component and document any changes made to the application's architecture.

Via a conditional query you can now express a scope for such an event (see Figure 1) and once an asset becomes part of this scope, the associated owners will receive a survey invitation to contribute.

Additionally, if needed you can trigger a new invitation to a survey on a recurring basis. This is particularly useful if you have a generic scope query (e.g. one covering all applications belonging to a specific organizational unit) and want to invite asset owners to periodic data checks (see Figure 2).

Pre-authenticated survey access links

In order for Txture to track which user has provided changes to assets via a survey, every survey recipient is required to have a Txture user account. A Txture user account is also required because of our survey delegation feature or to dynamically assign survey recipients based on asset ownership.

Previously this meant that as part of the first survey participation of a user, they needed to authenticate or for local authentication setups, needed to register first.

In version 46 of Txture we have now added "magic tokens" to allow for pre-authenticated access links to surveys. These tokens are bound to the email address of the survey recipient. So if you want your users to immediately access a survey, configure it as shown in Figure 3. This is particularly useful if you have many users that will not work with the Txture platform, but are solely asked to contribute to data input.
