Cloud Center of Excellence Team cloud management and reporting

Welcome back to the third part of the “Cloud Center of Excellence'' Series!

In the first post of this series, we already presented the core tasks of the Cloud Center of Excellence, also known as the Cloud Competence Center, and the arguments for organizations establishing a dedicated team. If you are unfamiliar with the core tasks of the Cloud Center of Excellence we encourage you to read our article on "The 7 Core Tasks of the Cloud Center of Excellence" first!

In this blog post series, we take a closer look at seven core tasks and show you how our Cloud Transformation Platform Txture helps you to perform a faster, cheaper and less risky cloud transformation. Let’s have a look at the CCoE’s third core task.

Cloud Transformation Management and Reporting

The Cloud Competence Center should always have an overview of the current application and IT infrastructure landscape and its dependencies. Specifically, during the transformation, it is crucial that the CCoE provides accurate reports regarding the state progress of the cloud transformation. In the initial assessment phase, the CCoE should also report the application landscape’s cloud readiness, identify optimal cloud providers, cloud target architectures and calculate expected migration effort and costs. A challenge is that cloud transformation projects typically have many internal and external stakeholders, that reporting and gathering information become a very time-consuming task.

Since Txture acts as the central knowledge base for all transformation related data, it is the perfect tool for **cloud transformation management**and reporting the current status to key stakeholders.

Txture’s Transformation Dashboards

The Transformation Platform includes a variety of predefined Transformation Dashboards that are ideal if you want to present a summary of the overall transformation status. Therefore, dashboards are especially useful for management reports. Since information demand differs from one use case to another, dashboards are configurable and can be shared with other stakeholders.

Reports as the most important tool for sharing knowledge

Reports are the central components in Txture to investigate, display and report applications and infrastructure data in the context of their transformation. Similar to dashboards, you can customize reports and share them with your colleagues. However, reports allow much more profound insights into an application on various levels. In the following, some examples are shown:

The waterfall diagram shows the transformation progress of all applications in your transformation pipeline at a glance. This allows you to gain full visibility during the transformation process. The CCoE gets the information it needs to react to incidents rapidly, to quickly find migration bottlenecks and to finally keep the transformation on time and on budget.

The donut chart visualizes the recommended 6 R’s migration strategy of all your applications. A click on a slice of the donut quickly takes you to the appropriate subset of applications. The CCoE can keep an eye on each application’s selected migration strategy and can intervene if necessary.

You can create high-level plans of migration waves to structure the cloud transformation in manageable chunks. This helps to keep large migration projects on time and on budget.

A variety of different report types make Txture a powerful tool for knowledge transfer in the Cloud Competence Center or CCoE. Reports can easily be integrated into knowledge management systems like Wikis, SharePoint, etc. which makes it even easier to share information with relevant stakeholders in your organization.
